Last 5 movies reviewed, Twitter-style

Continuing my movie reviews in 140 characters or fewer:

  • Der Knochenmann (2009)
Well-made, entertaining, suspensful Austrian thriller with Josef Bierbichler once again showing why he’s my favourite German-speaking actor.
  • Shadow of a Doubt (1943)
Hitchcock does not disappoint. Joseph Cotton’s performance reminded me of Robert Mitchum in Night of the Hunter (which came later).
  • Unthinkable (2010)
Kind of a mess. Starts out promising enough but soon goes awry and wastes a bunch of decent actors’ time in the process.
  • Rope (1948)
Another great by Hitchcock. Did not expect it to be so funny. The long takes are perfectly cheographed!
  • Pina (2011)
Wonderul documentary and tribute to Pina Bausch. Best use of 3D I’ve seen so far, although I still have mixed feelings about the technology.
